Lost

Yesterday was a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Work was stressful and dragged by. After school, I was called out at a meeting for slacking on something. I had to go shopping and found nothing that I needed. Then I had to deal with all this stupid drama... but that's an entirely different story.

So when I finally got home, I let Julio and Bentley out into the backyard, and sat my butt down on the couch. I watched Modern Family and Christmas Vacation and laughed and laughed. When it was time for bed, I opened the back door to let the pups back in.

If you know my dog, you know that he darts back into the house as soon as the door opens.

But he didn't come. I went out in the backyard and called his name. I called Bentley's name. Nothing. I walked around to the side of the backyard, nothing. My heart started racing. Then I thought, "Oh, maybe Meagan let them in and I didn't realize it." So I turned around to go back inside.

And noticed the gate was open.

My.heart.stopped.

If you know my dog, you know he darts out for an adventure any time a chance to escape becomes available.

I ran back inside and yelled for Meagan. We started freaking out. Meagan and I are a little obsessed with our pups. We ran into the driveway and up and down the back alley calling their names. Suddenly, Julio darted out from the darkness and ran straight into the backyard. I slammed the gate shut so he couldn't escape again, and then I went back to look for Bentley.

Bentley is a solid black dog, and it was so dark outside, we couldn't see him anywhere. We were calling his name and nothing. I was literally about to cry. But then we heard his collar, he came running down the alley, and I scooped him up into my arms! I hugged him and hugged him and then gave him to Meagan and she hugged him for awhile too!

We went back inside and just loved on our pups. I seriously thought they were gone forever. I've never had Julio run back so easily! Usually he darts and is gone. I am soooo glad he came back! I would be lost without my furry baby!! To say we snuggled a lot last night would be an understatement!

Someone was a little tired from his adventure!
