Ice, Ice Baby!

My school district does an award ceremony every February called the ICE awards. There are 7 categories, and teachers around the district submit different things they have been doing in their classrooms. This year there were 250 submissions! The district then selects the top 3 for each category and invites them to the ceremony.

Rachel and I submitted two of our projects to the "Humanities" category. Our "Hometown Hero" project made it into the top 3! (You can watch the news clip on our project here.) Last night was the awards ceremony!
Z, me, J, and R before the cermony!
After work, we headed to Z's house to get ready. Z lives near our school, so it works out that we could all meet there to get ready. Z's husband was up for an award in the PE category! (Which he won! Way to go Blue!) Julia was up for an award with the school she worked at last year, so we all were going!
My coworkers are the best!
They provided a nice reception and then the awards started. Humanities was up first, so we headed to the stage. And we won!! We were so excited! We got a certificate, a really fancy trophy to display at the school, and $1,000 for our school to spend!
Ice, Ice baby!
After the ceremony, my principal told me I couldn't write "roll tide" on the trophy before giving it to her today. You better believe I did anyway! I just settled for a sticky note instead. :)

Last night was so much fun! I can't wait to go again next year... because we will be winning another one next year! ;) (Our school won crystal in 3 of the 7 categories!)

Birthday Weekend!

Not my birthday weekend, but some of my favorite people!

Friday night we went to eat Mexican and then went to Cowboys Red River to celebrate Ashley!! Ashley is one of my favorite people in Dallas! We always have SO much fun together!!! I loved celebrating her Friday night! It was a BLAST!
Yesterday we celebrated Sarah! Every year I make Sarah a strawberry cake with strawberry icing and real strawberries, in the shape of a heart. (She's a valentine's day baby!) This was the third year that I made the cake, and it was delicious as always. :)

We went and ate at a really cool bar south of downtown and then came back to my house to hang out!

It has been so great to spend time with my friends! My friends are so important to me, but I've been so busy lately with work and other stuff that I haven't had much time with them. I loved spending time with them!!

Tomorrow we have the day off for president's day, and I'm going to Plano to spend the day with my Charlie and Lily! I absolutely can't wait to get some snuggle time in!! I think every weekend should be a three day weekend!!

Friday Letters

Linking up with... The Sweet Season!

Dear Students, please come off the sugar high from your valentine's day candy. You're acting crazy. And quit asking questions about my personal life. I love you, but some things aren't meant to be talked about with 8th graders. :) Dear Ian, thank you for being an amazing friend to me! The fact that you stuck your hand in a disgusting drain for me shows me that you're the real deal! Dear Cowboys Red River, Do not disappoint tonight. I look forward to learning how to two step! Dear 3 day weekend, please stay around as long as you like. There is no need to rush to Tuesday. Dear spring break, the faster you get here, the better. My toes reallllly need to feel some sand. ASAP.

Happy Valentine's Day!

From my favorite little valentine! :)

Mushtastic Bowtastic!

Annelise was the vice principal at my first school. She was on the interview committee that interviewed me for my first job, so I consider her one of the people who made my dream of becoming a teacher come true! We worked together my first year. Then I moved schools (twice). This year, she moved over to the school I'm at now and is my VP again!

She is expecting TWINS next month! So two of my coworkers and I got together and planned a Mushtastic Bowtastic Bash for the twins!

This is the invitation that I made:
(Location deleted :) )
I also made all of these fun food labels for the different foods on the table!

We made these adorable center pieces:
Bowties and mustaches for photo ops :)
With mustache balloons tied to the jar :)
This adorable diaper wreath:

Had a diaper signing station with funny notes that she can read when she's changing diapers late at night:

Roaring 20's

Jamie, Lindsey, and I are throwing a Roaring 20's birthday party for my best friend at work- RACHEL! It's on March 2nd and we are going all out. Here is the invitation that I made:
Address and Phone number removed :)
We will be serving food that was popular in the 20s, drinks from prohibition, and ordering flapper dresses! I'm really excited about this party. It should be so much fun! Here is the dress I just ordered....

I hate ordering clothes online because you never know if they will fit right.... but where else am I going to find a flapper dress in February??? So here's to hoping it works out for me.

So excited about this party!!!!
