My mawmaw's cabinet- before and after!!

I inherited my grandmothers china cabinet and thought it was SO ugly. I've been wanting to paint it for weeks, but I was so nervous! I did all kinds of research on paints and styles before I finally got up the nerve! I decided to go with Annie Sloan's Chalk Paint. If you haven't used it yet... ohmygosh. Go buy some NOW! It's fairly expensive- but completely worth it! No sanding or priming beforehand! And it's SO EASY to get any look you want! I loved it!

So if you know me, you know once I get started on a project I work and work and work to get it done. The best thing about this paint is that it dries so fast! It literally took me a day to complete it! And within that day, I also hung out with friends, slept, and went to church! Ha! It was great how fast it went!

So here are the pictures!!

Before: Yikes. This makes me shudder. It's so ugly and so drab. Poor Mawmaw... she didn't know any better. Plus, I have all of that beautiful crystal in there that you can't even see! Oh my. I'm so glad this isn't the site in my living room anymore!!
Katie and Scott came over to help me do the white part. This was so easy! And honestly, I didn't need as much white as I put on there! I wish I had only stuck with one coat, or a light second coat at least. I put too much white! At least I know for next time! I used Pure White for this part!

After the white, I added blue! I used Annie Sloan's "Provence" and oh my! I LOVE it! It's the perfect pop of color!
Sunday meant time to sand and wax! These are the doors after I sanded them. I love the antique look that was so easily accomplished!!
Then it was time to put it all back together! I repainted the hardware using the same paint! (It can literally go everywhere!) I used opposite colors because I really wanted them to pop out! Here is the top part put all back together!
And the bottom! THe lighting in this one is really bad. I wish I took a better picture so that you could really see the distressing on it! And how BLUE it really is!
Sadly, when I was done no one was here to help me lift the giant piece! So it patiently waited for Holly to come back from Tulsa....
Are you ready? Huh? Ready for the big reveal??? TADA!!
LOOK! You can SEE the crystal! I love that!

OH MY! I just love it! Here's a side by side comparison:
So what do you think? Do you love it as much as I do???

The next project: painting the piano! I am so excited about this job! I will be painting it with Provence to match the cabinet! Then I will re-cover that hideous plaid to match. I'm so excited to see this room completely finished! But for now, my hand, wrist, and arm hurts from painting, waxing, and sanding in the past 24 hours! So no more painting this week!! HA!
